Speeding, Dunfermline JP Court, 3 July 2015
Our client had pleaded Guilty to speeding and contacted us after he was ordained to appear at court personally as the court was considering a disqualification in view of the speed. He was particularly worried by this as his property business required him to drive. We thereafter attended court with him. After a full plea in mitigation we were able to persuade the court that a disqualification would be disproportionate in all the circumstances. The court thereafter dealt with the case by imposing 4 penalty points. We feel that the case illustrates that it is always worth instructing a lawyer to deal with such a matter rather than trying to handle it yourself. It can be the difference between keeping and losing your driving licence.
